Monday 13 March 2006, 06 - 6:00 - 9:00 pm in Science Building Auditorium.

Tony de Brum, former Foreign Minister of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and Adam Horowitz, filmmaker of Home on the Range about US hydrogen bomb and missile testing in the Marshall Islands (Santa Fe, New Mexico), will be on campus during the day to visit classes and talk with students. The evening program will begin with an introduction to the situation of the Marshall Islands, site of 67 US hydrogen bomb tests and ongoing missile defense tests. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the first of those US hydrogen tests in the Marshall Islands. March 1 marks the anniversary of BRAVO, the most powerful at 15-megatons and which contaminated many of the islands, exposing residents as well as US military personnel to deadly fallout. After the showing of the film Home on the Range, Mr. de Brum and Mr. Horotwitz will offer remarks and take questions from the audience.

Dr. Gabino Aguirre, former Mayor of Santa Paula and Mayor for Peace, and Janet Bloomfield, convenor of the international Abolition Now campaign, will talk about how elected officials and citizens can work together at local and global levels to achieve the dream of a nuclear free world.
